I bought some Scholl insoles a couple of weeks ago and they have been fabulous. The fronts of my feet are extremely painful so I tend to walk heavily on my heels (then heels and ankles hurt). The Busy Feet ones are blue half insoles that cushion the heel really well and have a gentle arch support. They cost about £10 but they have worth every penny. A lot of chemists stock them.

Thanks for this Julie, I too have busy feet insoles added to my Christmas list. I really need them as my feet having been giving me hell. My right toe has erosion on the bone, and I have been told by my rheumy that I have a bunion and hammer toes also on the right foot, but I can't see it.....

Love,

Barbara

I'm sure these insoles feel good, but I'm even more sure that rheumatoid feet need insoles especially made just for them. Don't want to be a nag, but when you think how much pressure your feet have to take.......maybe a visit to the podiatrist if you haven't already been?
Lots of love

I'm horrified that no-one thought to send you for another fitting after the op, Julie. Your feet are so important and deserve the very best. Push for an appointment

Much love

Hi Jean,

I go to the beauty parlor for regular pedicures and foot massage, my feet feel lovely afterwards, but since the RA my feet have been giving me a lot of pain to the point when I cannot put any weight on my right foot. My rheumy referred me to orthotics, but my appointment won't be until March!! So I guess I'll just have to keep hobblingThumbDown

Love,

Barbara

And what the hell are you supposed to do until March, Barbara? It really isn't on but sadly, it seems to be happening more and more now. Sorry you are in pain - nothing worse when you are trying to keep up with "normal" life.

Take care

Hi Jean,

I think I'm meant to carry on hobbling Sad In the meantime, I have spent a small fortune buying Miracle foam insoles and those jelly pad things for the ball of the foot, as well as a load of foot creams.

I'm trying to find a pair of nice boots, ones that are wide across the toes, that are not too heavy and that will fit my fat calves!!. At the moment I'm stomping around in a pair of Doc Martins Mary Jane's - very heavy and sexy to say the least.LOL LOL

Lots of Love,

Barbara

Hi Barbara

I've just bought a pair of fabulous boots from Hotter. They are extra wide, fit beautifully and are very warm and quite stylish. Have a look at their web site - the boots are much nicer than the shoes.

Much love

Barbara, look on theshoetailor.com for ee and eee fittings. They take into account wide feet but also different calf fittings. Some reasonable looking boots - I've had loads of pairs, usually with a v small wedge or heel. Just look a bit more feminine that complete flats. (Podiatrist said I had to have small heel to prevent tension in calves too.)

Many thanks Julie and Jean,

My 2 kittens have just chewed up my new miracle feet insoles... so I'm off to buy new ones and will also take a look at the shoetailor site.

Hi all,

I found this very interesting as one of the frustrating things with or without RA for a woman is finding comfortable shoes... an impossible task it might seem. I am so fed up with wearing runners and dressing down to match my shoes.

I will definitely look into the insoles and website. Another company that might be interesting is DUO a mailorder/shop that makes boots at different widths so ladies that dont fit standard sizes they have upto 21 width sizes. They have a fitting shop in Oxford Circus/Piccadilly where you can go to get fitted and then you place an order and the boots are delivered to you anything from a week to 6 weeks.
